Terms of Service: Axiota
Axiota, by Brightfold. Last updated 13 September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Axiota (the "app," "the service"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms.
1. Description of service
Axiota captures content you provide (links, text, images, PDFs, voice recordings), uses AI to generate spaced-repetition flashcards and study notes from it, and fact-checks factual claims it finds in that content.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Axiota. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must have a parent or guardian's permission.
3. Your account
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity under it. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you capture and the notes you create. By submitting content, you grant Axiota a license to process it (including sending it to third-party AI services, see our Privacy Policy) solely to provide the app's functionality to you.
Community Decks. If you choose to publish a deck to Community Decks, you grant other users of the app a license to view and import it. You're responsible for making sure content you publish doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.
Prohibited content. Don't capture or publish content that is illegal, infringes intellectual property rights, or that you don't have the right to submit. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content, hate speech, and abusive behavior. We reserve the right to remove any prohibited content and immediately suspend or terminate accounts that violate this policy without prior notice.
Your display name. Your display name is unique across all accounts and is public: it is the byline on decks you publish and the string other people use to add you. Don't pick a name that impersonates another person, organisation, or Axiota itself. We may reclaim a name that does. If you delete your account, your name is released and someone else may take it.
Friends and duels. Adding a friend lets them see a summary of your progress — never your captures, notes or review history. Don't use friend requests, display names or duels to harass anyone. Report and block are available on every friend, from the Friends screen.
5. AI-generated content and educational disclaimer — no warranty of accuracy
Flashcards, summaries, and fact-check verdicts are generated by AI models and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Axiota is an educational study aid only and does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice. In particular, medical study materials (including exam preparation decks) do not constitute clinical guidance, medical diagnosis, or treatment recommendations, and must never be used as clinical decision-support. Verify anything important independently.
6. Subscriptions and billing
The free tier includes a limited number of monthly AI-powered actions. A paid subscription removes this cap and is billed through your app store account (Apple App Store / Google Play) and processed via our backend infrastructure (including RevenueCat). Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through your app store account settings before the renewal date.
6a. Gems and other virtual items
Gems are a virtual currency used only inside Axiota. They have no monetary value, are not your property, cannot be exchanged for money or anything of monetary value, and cannot be transferred outside the app. They are a limited, personal, revocable licence to use a feature of the service, not a balance you own.
Gems are earned by studying, and may also be bought or received as a gift from another user where those options are offered. Purchases of gems are final and non-refundable except where the law of your jurisdiction or your app store's own policy requires otherwise. Cosmetic items and course packs bought with gems are licensed to your account on the same terms.
Duels may carry a stake in weekly XP. XP is a score, not a currency: it cannot be bought, sold, gifted or withdrawn, and a staked duel moves points between two players' weekly standings and nothing else. No purchasable item is ever wagered.
If your account is closed or deleted, any unspent gems and any items licensed to it are forfeited and are not refundable.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Axiota to abuse, overload, or reverse-engineer the service; to generate or distribute unlawful content; or to circumvent usage limits or entitlement checks.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time from Settings.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axiota is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including reliance on AI-generated content.
10. Third-party trademarks
Some deck packs prepare you for an exam owned by someone else, and are named after it so you can find them. Those names are their owners' trademarks — MCAT® belongs to the Association of American Medical Colleges, USMLE® to the Federation of State Medical Boards and the National Board of Medical Examiners, AP® to the College Board, among others. They are used here only to describe what a pack teaches. None of these organisations is affiliated with Axiota, sponsors it, endorses it, or has reviewed its content, and Axiota is not a source of official exam material.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
